Windows Vista / 7 - Server 2008 Standard Drive recent access issue
I have a recent issue on a school network we have a Server 2008 Standard network with predominantly XP Pro workstations. Over recent months we have started adding a few Vista
and Windows 7 workstations. No issues on the XP machines but just recently the shared network drives are not accessible on the Vista / 7 machines and the user drive is visible as are the files but they won't open with a message coming up saying the drive is
offline?

Which network adaptor are you using?
On one of the clients try to
Disable Receive-side scaling
1.
Click Start, type
Devmgmt.msc into Search bar and press Enter.
2.
Expend
Network adapters, right click on the
NVIDIA nForce network controller and click
Properties.
3.
Switch to
Advanced tab, highlight
Receive side scaling under Property list and select
Disable under Value list.
4.
Click
OK.
4.
Click
OK

Hi,
Would you please let me know if the computers are in a domain environment? Is Offline Files enabled?
Please ping the Server which hosts the share folder to check the connection. If there is no connection issue, I suggest using
\\computer_name\shared_drive or
\\IP_Address\shared_drive to access the destination.
Regards,
Niki

Thanks Niki,
Yes it's a Domain (School) Server 2008 Standard Edition SP2. I'm only at that school on Thursdays so will be checking your suggestion out tomorrow.
